Men's Olympic high jump finalist Ivan Ukhov was in a state of panic a few moments before his crucial competition. He misplaced his singlets and did not find it. The shaggy-haired Russian   had removed his uniform top after his previous attempt and now he couldn't find it.
He had to find a singlets for his game. He was sitting on to no avail. At the suggestion of a meet official, he slapped on a spare bib number and trotted out to the track to attempt to clear 2.33 meters.
Remarkably enough, Ukhov succeeded on his first try. The 2010 World Indoor champion eventually found his missing singlet and cleared two more bars without a miss, clinching his first gold in Olympics journey.

Jordyn Wieber's coach shed light on the reason the 2011 world all-around champion struggled at the Olympics. According to team doctors, she has been showing signs of a stress fracture, and will be outfitted in a walking boot.
Geddert shared that according to USA team doctor Larry Nassar, "there are all the signs of a stress fracture. She's had soreness and now there is a lump there. So, she'll be in a boot tomorrow, finish out the Games, get an x-ray, and then an MRI. It's the same leg as her heel injury. She's been having problems since training camp.
But withdrawing from the competition was never an option for Wieber, who earned gold with the team. Her failure to qualify for the all-around competition was surprising. She scored in the top five overall during qualifications, but didn't do as well as teammates Aly Raisman and Gabby Douglas. Only two athletes are allowed per country in each individual competition.

Who want to slow down the game

More talented Americans was to slow the game down. That included, Wambach said, having goalkeeper Erin McLeod hold the ball as long as possible, even over 15 seconds at times during the first half.
During the second half, with the U.S. frantically trying to speed up the game while attempting multiple comebacks, Wambach began running near referee Christiana Pedersen and counting off the seconds that McLeod held the ball.
"I wasn't yelling. I was just counting," Wambach revealed Tuesday during an interview at the team hotel. "Probably did it five to seven times."
The last time came in the 78th minute, with Canada trying to milk a 3-2 lead. McLeod made a save, and Wambach began counting again.
